Introducing Kanga Cover™

Huddle Insurance has made it possible for drivers to avoid paying an excess after accidentally hitting an animal.

Introducing
Kanga Cover™

Hitting a kangaroo while driving can be a traumatic experience - of course to the kangaroo itself, but also to those in the car.

And while, in most cases, comprehensive car insurance will pay to repair your car, the norm in Australia is that your insurance company will still make you pay an excess towards these repairs.

At Huddle, we questioned whether this was fair.

Huddle Insurance has made it possible for drivers to avoid paying an excess after accidentally hitting an animal.

With Kanga Cover™, no excess is payable for your first animal collision claim in any one period of insurance.

Huddle's approach to fixing the problem

At Huddle, we are always looking for new ways to solve our members' problems.

We found that 4 out of 5 Australians were concerned about hitting a kangaroo whilst driving in the country.

And when we looked at the data, each year approximately 7,800 animal collisions claims take place, with 90% of them being kangaroos.

We also found that most car insurance brands charge an excess in these cases.

We asked our members if they thought this was wrong, and if they wanted to change things. A resounding 83% of them voted yes!*

*Based on a vote conducted online within the Huddle Member Council, comprising of active Huddle policyholders.

Just one month later, Huddle has launched Kanga Cover™. Plus, we donate $1 to the Kangaroo Protection Co-operative each time someone buys Kanga Cover™.
