Can we buy our way out of poverty?

Join us at Vivid Ideas 2017 on Saturday 10 June in Sydney.

These days, it seems that almost every big brand claims to be doing good in the world. Some profess to be solving poverty; others promise to fix climate change or fight for equality. But are they really? Can we seriously change the world by switching the beer we drink, the clothes we buy, or where we put our money? And how do we know who we can trust?

Join us as we examine the brands who believe that business can create a better world. Brands like Patagonia, Airbnb and Ben & Jerry’s. We’ll hear from: Oxfam Australia; Head of Ethics at Australian Ethical, Dr Stuart Palmer; and fashion writer and author of Wardrobe Crisis, Clare Press. We’ll learn about the phenomenal growth of Conscious Capitalism and the rise of the B Corp movement. And we'll hear from the brands leading the charge to use business as a force for good.

Skeptical? Gabrielle Jackson, opinion editor from Guardian Australia, will ask the tough questions and test their claims.

Click here for ticket information. Tickets includes canapés and drinks, featuring the beers of 4 Pines Brewing Company, one of Australia's fastest-growing B Corps.
